How’s Your Prayer Life?
Series: Advent
December 29, 2019
Minister Daniel Locklear
Luke 22:39-46
Prayer is a powerful way to gain strength. Prayer alone is a powerful thing. You can't have a testimony without a test. If Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, had to go to the Father and pray, then we need to pray to the Father too. We have to do God's will, even when people talk about us or push us to the side, we have to do the will of the Father and carry on.

Dec 22, 2019Is There Room for Jesus in Your Life?Series: AdventDecember 22, 2019Reverend Kevin UsseryLuke 2:1-14The Bible declares that God, the Father, is so proud of God, the Son, that God, the Father, exalts Jesus (promotes). In the exaltation of the promotion of Jesus, Christ does not take place until Jesus first humbles himself. Many of us long to be promoted, but many of us have yet to understand that humility is always a prerequisite to promotion.

Dec 15, 2019The Gift of God’s LoveSeries: AdventDecember 15, 2019Reverend Kevin M. UsseryJohn 3:16The Greeks have 3 words primarily for love. One of them is "eros", from which we get our English word erotic. Eros love is not mentioned anywhere in the New Testament because "eros" is all about taking. Eros is all about the self. Then there is "phileo", from which we get our word, Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. Phileo means a love that is between friends or family members. It is give and take. But the love that is mentioned in the text is agape love. Agape love has nothing to do with the one being loved, but it is all on the character of the lover.

Dec 8, 2019The Birth of Christ Brings RelationshipSeries: AdventDecember 8, 2019Reverend Kevin M. UsseryMatthew 1:18-25Some of us get into religion, but it's not about a religion, it's all about a relationship. God in His infinite wisdom created mankind, not because He needed us, but God in His infinite wisdom created us as mankind simply because God wanted to have a relationship with us. The relationship that God has with us is not because of duty, but is strictly out of desire. God desires to have a relationship with us, so much so, that he inconvenienced himself.

We get so caught up with the frivolity of Christmas, that we miss the reason for the season. If Jesus hadn't come, we would be right now living in hell, getting ready to die and go to hell.
