Fill Me Up, Lord
Series: (All)
February 23, 2020
Reverend Kevin Ussery
1 Peter 1:13-21

God can fill your needs. Some of us get so busy feeding from the neck down, that we forget to feed from the neck up. We forget to feed the word of God into our hearts. We get so caught up in the things of this world that we miss what God has for us. If you don't eat the word of God, food won't last forever, but the word of God will.

    1 Samuel 17:43-51

God didn't make you to be average, mediocre, or to be mundane. God did not make you to go along to get along. You are not supposed to walk, talk, or live like everybody else. Do you think that he allowed nails in His son's hands and feet for you to be average? Do you think that He allowed a crown of thorns on the top of His head so that you could be like everybody else? God didn't make you to be average, but He ordained you to be great.

    Matthew 16:13-18

Who does Jesus say I am? Over 2000 years ago when Jesus died on the cross and shed his precious blood, he purchased certain benefits for every child of God. Even though there are benefits for every child of God, that have already been purchased through Jesus' death on the cross, satan will rob you of what already belongs to you.

Sometimes when there is trouble in your life, it isn't because of the devil. We blame the devil for everything by saying the devil made me do it, but sometimes it isn't the devil that made you do it, but it was your flesh that made you do it because it was good. The devil doesn't mess with you when you are his. The devil only shows up when things are going good because most people are not satisfied living around the altar.

    1 Corinthians 6:15-20

Out of all the places God could have chosen to live, He chooses to live inside of you. Because God lives inside of us, it does not matter about your circumstances, your challenges, how great your setbacks, or how great your failures. But because God lives on the inside of us, we are able to open up our mouths and say, "Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world."

    1 Samuel 3:1-21

Some of us have some things going on in our lives and God is telling us that we need to take care of that situation before it goes any further. If you have some things blocking the voice of the Lord in your life, you better get rid of those things in your life. It's a dry place when you can no longer hear the voice of the Lord.

    2 Chronicles 7:1-3

Whether you know it or not, you are getting ready to be blessed. In order for us to receive the blessings of God, one must be willing to make sacrifices in order for God to get His glory. Whenever God gets His glory, he ALWAYS reciprocates. He gives back to us more than what we could ever have given Him.

    Luke 22:39-46

Prayer is a powerful way to gain strength. Prayer alone is a powerful thing. You can't have a testimony without a test. If Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, had to go to the Father and pray, then we need to pray to the Father too. We have to do God's will, even when people talk about us or push us to the side, we have to do the will of the Father and carry on.

    Luke 2:1-14

The Bible declares that God, the Father, is so proud of God, the Son, that God, the Father, exalts Jesus (promotes). In the exaltation of the promotion of Jesus, Christ does not take place until Jesus first humbles himself. Many of us long to be promoted, but many of us have yet to understand that humility is always a prerequisite to promotion.

    John 3:16

The Greeks have 3 words primarily for love. One of them is "eros", from which we get our English word erotic. Eros love is not mentioned anywhere in the New Testament because "eros" is all about taking. Eros is all about the self. Then there is "phileo", from which we get our word, Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. Phileo means a love that is between friends or family members. It is give and take. But the love that is mentioned in the text is agape love. Agape love has nothing to do with the one being loved, but it is all on the character of the lover.
